Want to be part of Shearing Day 2012?
This is always a fun-filled educational day, as spinners, shepherds,
and other interested folk trek to SkyLines Farm to help out with our annual
shearing. Shearing is held on a Saturday in early March (March 3 in 2012). This is a real-life,
hands-on work day, so plan to show up early and do some serious work (and prepare for some serious fun too!)
Full training is provided, along with
a hot homemade lamb stew lunch by the wood stove.
Crew size limited, so sign up early.
Write me at melissa@skylinesfarm.com to get on the list for shearing crew 2012! (Visit the
Photo of the Day-Week-Month pages for photos of
many years of happy shearing crews:)
Join Us for Hands-On Lambing School 2012!
Our next Lambing School is Saturday March 31, 2012
Whether you're just thinking about raising sheep or have already started your flock, this popular annual event will give you
the knowledge and hands-on experience you need to manage a successful lambing season. We'll spend the entire day in the lambing barn working with the 40+
SkyLines breeding ewes and their newborn lambs. After a fun and rewarding day of lecture, real-life demonstrations, and hands-on work with the sheep, you'll leave
here with the skills and the confidence you need to ensure your own happy healthy ewes and babies (and shepherds too!). Visit the
Lambing School page for full details.
Registration is very limited to ensure a quality hands one experience, so reserve your spot early!
Yearling rams available Spring 2012
If you're looking for a natural-colored purebred Romney breeding ram that will put the SkyLines Farm stamp on your flock, I'll have one or two
gorgeous yearling rams available
in Spring 2012. These natural-colored boys are a product of my 20-year breeding program that has focused entirely on breeding animals to
thrive and prosper under my low-maintenance, grassfed, organic-practices management
system. And they all produce the exquisite, in-demand SkyLines Farm spinning fleeces too of course! Check out all the details on SkyLines Farm
breeding stock
here.
